Went with my folks to a casino, my father won a few bucks so he treated us to lunch. What an over whelming place with the sights, sounds, lighting, the feel, the odor, the temperature, it seems they leave no stone unturned to manipulate the money out of your wallet. I wonder what kind of money they spent to find out the best way to get our money once in the door and what those reports looked like? If we could use reports like that to best help the troops it would seem like money well spent with a much bigger and longer lasting return.

Got picked up at 6 am to go back to NY and on the way I noticed miles of empty building on the way to New Orleans and asked the driver about it. He said the reason they were still empty is that they had no flood insurance being so far away from the water so insurance didn’t cover them. Over 7,500 people were eligible for a government loan but, only 3 checks were written because they were on welfare or they were housing for welfare. It also seemed quite a coincident the levee that protected that area was the only one that was inspected by the government. I don’t have any documents to support any of this just conversations with locals. We really know how to take care of our own.

Got home yesterday and visited a friend in a home, he gets Medicaid; he wants out but says he can’t leave till a doctor sees him, he was told the doctor only comes once a month. He has been asking to get out for 2 months, I asked him why would they want to keep him in, he showed me the bill, they charge Medicaid 12,000 a month to keep Bob there who is healthy (he was in for a broken shoulder which healed some time ago) in a room he shares with another man and they get one bath a week. I can see why they want to keep him there and I can see why the government is reluctant to do programs for Veterans if this is how they get abused by private enterprise. If the government did an in house program for the troops coming home to deal with PTSD it would cost them less then they are spending now.

I pushed doing exercises and my back isn’t up to where my head is, so I will back off (no pun intended) and let my body heal itself. Got a call from Bird nut (one of my Guardian Angles on the trail)
Who finished the trail and is back home on the farm and doesn’t plan to walk next year but, he will aid me anyway he can when I come thru Tenn. It is nice the bond I make with others who share a similar experience.; the same bond that the troops make with one another as they go thru their experience together and who else can relate to them better then one who has shared their experience? That is another reason why group counseling is more effective then one on one, because they know and have been they, they support one another.

I was in Office Max getting cards made to hand out, while I was there talking about our cause a man came in whose son had played with mine when they were in school. He told me of a boy they had been with in school who had come back from Iraq (a Marine) who is now going to jail because he got into a fight in some bar. I may be setting back and taking it easy starting to enjoy the holiday season but, PTSD doesn’t take a break and has no preference to race, color or creed.

I bought my first computer that I am using, I have resisted it till now, I want to do the most I can to promote our cause and if that means getting into the 20th and 21st century so be it. Thank God a hammer didn’t come with it for I may have used it.

Any vet that want to take the momentum seminar or find out what may be available in his area please e mail me or call 631 727 2642.
