Ron's Journal:
Week 33

Sunday, January 7, 2006
Went to Greenport with a friend to hang out and make like tourist, we went riding on the Merry go round and a photographer for the local paper took our picture because of my bare feet, told them why and she said she would do what she could to give us some more coverage. On the way home I stopped to see a girl that used to work for me, her husband is a retired police officer, we talked about what I am doing and he is getting me the number of the man (John Sferrano) that is treating a lot of the victims of 9/11 for PTSD/

Monday, January 8, 2006
Got the number of John Sferrano of, Unsung Hero’s helping Hero’s, gave him a call and we talked and he hooked me up with another Congressman and Dr Brown who also works with PTSD. To get hold of John you can e mail him atLenajohn@optonline.net.

The stigma in our society about getting help for ourselves thru conciling is strange to me now for I thought nothing of going to a class for my business or to make more money. Going to a business seminar doesn’t mean I was a loser or didn’t know how to run my business it just means I wanted to get the most out of it, be more productive, make it the best I could. Why couldn’t I look at counseling for myself like that?

Tuesday, January 9, 2006
Called Max Cleland this morning and got him and told him about the plan we are putting together, if he would like to be involved and asked who he would recommend to help us put it together. He asked us to email him that and he would see what he can do. Also call Jim McDermott and left a message. Went to Town Hall at 1pm so we can be thru with the violations on my property. Well I got to Town Hall and they gave me a new list of things they want done so I got up and asked the viewers and people at the meeting to write letters and make a difference for the troops coming home. I think they just keep doing this so that I can get TV coverage, God Bless the Town Hall.

Got home and got a call from Mike, Jim McDermott’s right hand man telling me to keep doing what I am doing for I am galvanizing people for this cause, and they would be glad to take a look at what I am doing. I am willing to take any kind of corrective critism, anything that will help us achieve our goal.

Wednesday, January 10, 2006
Called Dr. Richard Brown (he does a lot of work with PTSD)and told him what we are doing and I also called Congressman Israel and left a message.

Thursday, January 11, 2006
Had a meeting with the town code enforcer and I thanked him for all the TV time, he laughed and said he didn’t know how much more air time I would get. I got a call from a reporter who was at the Town Board hearing who wants to do an interview for the Suffolk Life, so we did. Did a talk at the VFW in Polish Town, they asked me to make it short, I made it to short by coming from my head instead of my heart. Guess that is how you learn by practice, if I never do anything, I will never make a mistake; I plan to make a few more mistakes before I am done.

Got a call back from Dr. Brown inviting me to a lecture he was giving at the Veterans Hospital in Manhattan. I told him that I would make it if I could.

Friday, January 12, 2006
Did a dive job, dropped off paper work to my accountant, seems I have a fine from 2003, paper work has never been my strong suite, then drove into Manhattan and made it to the lecture. I was impressed by all his research and data as to the effects of breathing on helping heal PTSD; he said he would be glad to look at what we are doing, I am excited how people and groups are coming together.

Saturday, January 13, 2006
I spent the day cleaning up at the shop to comply with the Town Board on what they want me to do. When I was 19 I thought soldiers fought for our freedom, little did I know that my idea of freedom was different from our governments, sometimes I think we are free to do what they tell us. In a perfect world I could be free but in this world with people on top off one another ones freedom may infringe upon another’s if there was no law or system.
