Left at 3:30 am, George drove me to Newark Airport, thank God for friends that will drive 100 miles one way at 3am for you. While waiting for my flight I saw on the news how a boy (Sean) had been found after missing for several years in Missouri. The whole town reached out for him gave him space, counseling and looked after him. What about the boys I let be sent in harms way who come home and don’t ask for help? Do I give them space, do I protect them, do I give them counseling?
On the flight to Atlanta (where I have to change flights to Belize) I talked to a Women who made comment about my bare feet and I told her why. While I was talking I overheard the guy behind me say something about being deployed, doing the right thing and about his faith, so I turned around and asked him if he was in and what he was doing. He said he is an officer in the Army and they try to screen guys and talk to them before they send them out; while he is talking to me his face looks like he is stressed to max and seen a ghost. He said he was going back to fight for his men, I wished him the best. I told him what I was doing, I could see from his face that he was just trying to keep it together because not to many hours ago he was in the desert getting shot at now he is on a plane home eating a bag of peanuts and having a glass of juice.

Went to the Zoo with my family, it poured, the baby cried, the animals hid, we talked to our guide about politics. It seems they know more about our politics then we do for most of them have family here, I asked if the government was corrupt, he smiled and said all governments are corrupt, I couldn’t really argue that, because I don/t have enough facts or information. He said they had a debt of 2 ½ billion for 250,000 people which seemed overwhelming, later I broke ours down to see the comparison and saw it was about the same. A lot of natives make mention of my bare feet and I tell them why, they stop laughing and think, some of their family members fight for our country, what happens in the USA definitely effects them.

We saw the ruins; I asked why, what happened for a major civilization to abandonee this area, was it food, was it war, was it disease? Back then there were over 1 million people, now there are ¼ million and most of them are not natives. Is it because of the wars and the effect of the collateral damage just like what we are doing today, just like Russia has already done, how far behind are we, is there hope we can change all this? I am betting on there is still hope.

Went zip lining thru the jungle in the rain, the cables are faster when they are wet, we were the only ones zipping (my son and I), we are treated very well, they think we are all like Rockefeller. It is probably one of the few countries that likes America and that is because we spend money there and most everyone has a relative here. I image what it is like to go to a foreign country thinking you are freeing them, to find that some don’t want you there and then you question what you are doing there.
