Ron's Journal:
Week 38

One of the things I learned here is that I still have expectations and the greatest one I have (so much so that I take it for granted) is that I will be alive this moment and because of it I have not acted with a greater sense of urgency. I had given a copy of our plan to Justin Sterling to see if he would come to our first meeting to help develop the pilot program seeing that he has over 20 years experience dealing with men in the self awareness arena.

While at the seminar I had meet a fellow marine who I felt more connected to then anyone else there. When we set up our pilot programs I hope to have the veterans or active personnel from the same branch working with their own so that the troops can identify with those helping them, creating more trust, a stronger bond then a stranger who can’t identify with them.

I got a call to talk at Mercy High School in Riverhead on March 9th, I look forward to enrolling them for it seems to me the young still believe the good guy wins, feel they can make a difference and aren’t encumbered by the responsibilities of a family and supporting them. I know when I started a family my priorities shifted from me or what ever I thought was important at the moment to my family. Letting all noble cause go to the way side justifying it with this shift in attitude as well as saying it doesn’t matter, who cares and I can’t do anything about it ( apathy was the greatest killer for me). May I reach them before apathy has become to deeply rooted in them.

Went to Southampton Town Hall to take care of summons on my property and thanked them for all the air time and their support on our cause.

Talked to Congressman Israel’s office and set up an appointment to meet on the 20th. Went to Southampton Town Court where after all they had me do they fined me $250. Which I felt was unjust because I was unavailable, but they say ignorance is no excuse. If that is the case it is my responsibility to know the rules to the game and the parameters of my freedom, if not I pay a price. What freedom do our troops have, what is the price they are paying for not knowing the rules, what are the rules and are they so ambiguous that I can make them mean whatever I feel like at the moment or what ever suits me? Are there one set of rules I give them to get them to go then another different set I give them when they get home so I don’t have to honor the first set I gave them? Or do I manipulate them to the point that I don’t have to honor my commitment to them?

Got a call from Mike at Congressmen McDermott’s office telling me that they couldn’t be listed as a support of our plan due to the convoluted nature of the privacy act laws but that they will support what ever way they can. That is part of why they did the informal hearing so that I had there endorsement with out having to worry about backlash from technicalities of some of the laws we have in place which help as well as hinder the due process.

Have been calling my web Designer so that we may upgrade our page and the Sterling Group to see if they will be part of our pilot program.

Saw a young man at the gym (my strength is coming back and my back doing better) that I did not recognize, he came up to me and introduced himself, saying I did not recognize him; I had work with his father moving houses (the whole house not it’s contents) and knew him since he was about 8yrs old. He told me his sister was in the hospital so I went to visit her to find that she left so I stopped by her mothers and talked for awhile about old times (her husband had died some time ago, he had been one of my role models because when he was dying he had been in so much pain he wanted to end it but did not because he chose to show his children courage and hope). Her oldest son was visiting who was also in the Marines and he was now in a position where he was able to give back to the community and was happy about being able to do so. Her daughter lived across the street so I went and saw, she said she wanted to give back in some way by helping our cause and she told me here brother who I had just seen at the gym does web pages and may be able to help. There are no accidents.
